Josh (00:00:03) - All right. We got five minutes on the clock right about there. What is your name and what is your podcast show?
Barbara (00:00:08) - Well, hello there. I am Barbara Rasgon, which is Hungarian, and my podcast is growing social now.
Josh (00:00:15) - Growing social now. Um, now before we hit record, we were in the green room and we were talking about the mass amount of content being created through AI. And, you know, it's flooding the marketplace now with the world of content creation and public relations. What do you think is the most important thing for people to know who are content creators?
Barbara (00:00:36) - To me. You know, Josh, I thought about this before we started this morning. It's all about relationships. And honestly, I started my show Growing Social. Now, for selfish reason, I know all these people I've worked with and known throughout the years, and I thought, what if I could talk to them for 20 minutes, 30 minutes and invite the world to listen in? And that's how I started my podcast.
Barbara (00:00:57) - And I think for anyone who's listening, think about who you've known over the years and who you'd like to reconnect with and and do it because you'll be surprised where those conversations go.
Josh (00:01:08) - Yeah, for sure. So with with the world being flooded with content, you have conversations with your friends, people that you're interested in and that you'd like to keep connected with. And you say, why don't we record it and let the world listen in? Do you think that affects the authenticity of the conversation that you're having with your friends? And how do you balance that? Of how do you how do you still maintain a good relationship versus letting the world in?
Barbara (00:01:34) - Well, I think there's some intimacy, even if you don't know someone very well. Because one of my more recent guests I found online through a Google alert, Belarus mortel, and we talked about business and charisma and business. We'd never met. And, uh, but we had a great conversation and we became friends very quickly. So I think if you can find a connector point and for the folks I talk with, a lot of it is about social media marketing and PR.
Barbara (00:01:57) - But once again, it's all back to authentic relationships. And authenticity is the word of the year for 2023. So you know and and Riz is another word of the year. So if you combine those two then I think you've got a really good recipe for success, authenticity and charisma.
Josh (00:02:14) - Nice. So when it comes to podcasting, you said you started kind of as a selfish kind of mission. Did it ever morph from selfish to like maybe something that gathers for your business or for other support? Like I did the same with my show Uncensored Advice for men and it benefited me huge. Like what was your evolution in that?
Barbara (00:02:36) - Well, that's a great question. And my evolution really was starting to talk with friends. But I've always had within me, within my heart and soul. I don't know why I want to show people the future. I just even when I was a little girl, I wanted to show people the future. So I feel like it's my mission. If people come and they listen to me, I'm going to say, let's walk ahead.
Barbara (00:02:53) - So next week is CES in Las Vegas. I've been in the press room there, and I've always loved to say, okay, here's what's next. And I feel like as marketers, we really need to be on the front edge and it's changing so fast. I can't keep you updated with everything, but I can give you a confidence and let you relax and connect you with people who really do know what's next. So that's what I love about it.
Josh (00:03:17) - Well, I love this because as marketers and as content creators, I do think we need to be on the front edge of what's going on in the world and to inform what's going on. And one of the things that you said is to help people be at ease. So hearing from experts, it gives them knowledge and wisdom to maybe how they would approach things through your podcasting adventures. What is one thing that you like found remarkable that you that maybe changed the way you looked at life or business?
Barbara (00:03:48) - Oh wow. You know, I guess what I would do is I would go back to my interview with Allen Schoenberg, who is a corporate communicator, and he talked about how running.
Barbara (00:03:58) - Influences and impacts his life. And what's interesting is my husband has run 101 marathons, but I never had that insight on how running really relates to life. And that was just so beautiful. So I think in every one of the interviews, there's some little nugget that I wasn't looking for that came out. I've had guests who said, I never really expected to say that, so you never know where you're going to go. And that's one of the fun things about podcasting, for sure.
Josh (00:04:22) - And one more time, what's your name and what's your podcast show?
Barbara (00:04:26) - My name is Barbara Rasgon Rosie Glennie and my podcast is Growing Social now.
Josh (00:04:32) - Now you talk a little bit about the future. What's the future look like for you? We've got about 25 seconds left.
Barbara (00:04:38) - I'd like to open up the podcast Avenue even more and come up with a couple different ones. And I've already developed three new formats for 2024, so I'm all in on podcasting. It's it's a lot of fun. I've been a top blogger.
Barbara (00:04:50) - Now it's time to be a top podcaster. Awesome.
Josh (00:04:53) - Everyone listening in, uh, our mission is to help people launch, grow and monetize their show. And I hope this was valuable to you. Reach out to our guests and say thanks for being on the show. Our time's up. We'll see you all on the next episode.
